Regular Training
|
Our training sessions take place near Congleton, in Cheshire. Primarily these focus on the ‘battle reenactment’ or Combat elements of reenactment. However they also give us a chance to get together and plan our other activities, and work together on projects. Typically we run sessions every week in March, April and May to give people the chance to get fit for the reenactment season, then drop back to around fortnightly once the season starts. Most of our events take place in June, July, and August. The main foot weapons of the late medieval period are staff weapons, Spears, Billhooks, Partizans and Billhooks. For this reason our foot combat training concentrates on these weapons. Typically this training will involve some drill in pairs or small groups, then some competitive training ‘games’ in teams. We also train with swords. When weather and daylight permits, we practice archery in the grounds of the hall. |
